Description
These boats, designed in 1933-1934, were the first of a new generation of German attack U-boats known, as Type VII, they were popular with their crews and very agile on the surface. They also had a much more powerful striking power than the smaller Type IIs. They had 5 torpedo tubes (4 at the bow) and would carry 11 torpedoes onboard or 22 TMA (=33 TMB) mines. They also had the effective 88mm fast-firing deck gun with about 160 rounds of ammunition.
Type VIIB was an improvement on this design with substantially increased range.
All but two (U-29 and U-30, both scuttled in Kupferm..hlen Bay on May 4, 1945) Type VIIA U-boats were sunk during World War Two.

Hobbylinc +1 Why this kit matters The German Type VII-A was among the earliest of the Type VII U-Boat class, commissioned in the mid-1930s.
It set foundational standards for what became the principal U-boat type for the Kriegsmarine during WWII.
The Type VII-A had less range and fewer upgrades than later variants, but its design influenced subsequent marks and served during the critical early years of the Battle of the Atlantic.
For modellers, this kit captures a less frequently modelled version of the Type VII line.
The inclusion of photo-etched parts, a full-hull setup rather than waterline only, and alternative conning tower options make it appealing both as a display piece and as a learning project in ship modelling.
The compact size means it fits well in tight displays yet shows off fine detail.
How to use it Build using modelling glue, sprue cutters, hobby knife, and fine files or sandpaper.
Paint using submarine-appropriate colours (grey, black, metallic, deck tones).
Use the photo-etched parts carefully-cut clean, bend with tweezers, attach with small drops of glue.
Apply decals per instruction.
Once finished, mount on the included stand for display in a cabinet or shelf alongside other naval kits.
