In the United States, developments with circular aircraft saw the Vought V-173 "Flying Pancake" of 1942 and XF5U of 1943. The so-called "Foo Fighters" perhaps? In the Cold War, Avro Canada designed the Flying Manta in 1952, codename "Project Y", and the VZ-9 Avrocar, "Project Silver Bug" in 1959. Did German engineers assist on these designs?
