The ASLAV is an eight wheeled vehicle, with the front two axles steering, and having the ability to operate in either four or eight wheel drive. Rear mounted propellers give the vehicle a speed of 10 km/hr in water. The turbocharged GM 6V53T diesel engine gives a top road speed in excess of 100 km/h. A range of 600 kilometres is possible. A front mounted self-recovery winch is fitted. The standard vehicle of the family is the ASLAV-25. Its Delco designed turret mounts the M242 25mm Cannon, which has a selectable rate of fire varying from single shot to 100 and 200 rounds per minute. Two MAG 58 7.62mm Machine Guns are fitted, one co-axially with the M242 and the second on the turret for use by the commander. A thermal imaging day/night sight is fitted. The turret rotates 360o and is fully stabilised.:

This is a Trumpeter 00392 1/35 Australian ASLAV-25 (Reconnaissance) ASLAV is a modern family of Australian eight-wheeled armored vehicles for various purposes. The first prototypes of this family's vehicles were built in the early 1990s, and serial production continued in 1995-2007, ending with the production of 257 vehicles from this family. ASLAV trucks are powered by single engines Detroit Diesel 6V53T with 279 HP . The vehicles are armed with, for example, one 25mm Bushmaster M242 autocannon and two 7.62mm machine guns. Family vehicles ASLAV vehicles are based on the construction of MOWAG Piranha 8x8 vehicles. ASLAV vehicles are vehicles with high mobility and maneuverability, with amphibious abilities. This family includes several types of different vehicles. One of them is the ASLAV-25, which is a reconnaissance combat vehicle armed with a 25 mm cannon.
